Benazir Income Support program started in 2008 was later extended and improved in the form of Ehsaas Program. Ehsaas program aimed at the alleviation of poverty, food shortage, providing Ehsaas rashan for the needy, stipend for the unemployed and shelter homes and langar to the depressed strata of society.

Facts and figures about malnutrition and stunted growth
According to an estimate of 2023, 240,485,658 people live in Pakistan which is 9.22% of world population. In the year 2023, According to UNICEF 102,449,594 children are under age 18.
Among them, 17.7% of them are victim to stunted growth and malnutrition. 40.2% children are facing nutrition deficiency and 28.9% are underweight. Due to stunted growth, height is also affected and less heighted children are 7% of the total figure.
Target of Ehsaas Nashonuma Program
BISP Nashonuma program has targeted the children under two years and aim at providing the pregnant women with best possible nutrition to avoid deficiency of nutrients during pregnancy. Children are the future of Pakistan and it is said that a healthy body has a healthy mind.
So, those mothers giving birth to the young leading minds of nation should be strong and healthy. To fulfill this purpose, Ehsaas Nashonuma Program gives 17000 to the new borns. A baby girls will recieve 2500 while a baby boy would get 2000 after 3 months in their first 1000 days.
These days are crucial for the health and betterment of a child. So, they are targeted through Nashonuma. Pregnant women can get 2000 through Benazir Nashonuma program. Approximately, 1.5 million women and children benefited from Benazir Nashonuma program.
